About Touchstone Projects

It began almost 20 years ago

I first picked up the mallet and chisel under the apprentice of an Eastern European Master Stonemason from the Czech Republic. A great craftsman, he was a man of few words that preferred to lead by example.

My passion for stonework grew as I learned from him, by watching and doing. My skills were growing as fast as my hunger to learn more, leading me to move on and find work with Atlantis Rausch Granite & Marble.

I continued to develop and hone my stonemasonry skills over my years with Atlantis Rausch. I worked on beautiful custom homes, expansive commercial projects, even unique and traditional temples and churches.

My path in stonework was becoming clear to me. Each project and each day felt like stepping stones towards something bigger. Something more.

In 2006, the Stanley Park Seawall was about to undergo major repairs. Gracom (now under the name Scorpio Masonry) was leading the restoration project. The seawall is an iconic piece of Vancouver and I wanted to be a part of that project.

I contacted Gracom and expressed my eagerness to join their project.

I was hired on as part of their team and spent 3 months of restoration work on the seawall. I was proud to be a part of the restoration and felt the experience pushed me to seek out other challenging projects.

I worked with some amazing companies on many projects over the next decade. High-end residential homes, complex commercial projects and incredible historical restorations - including the Vancouver Art Gallery.

The path lead to Touchstone

With my stonemasonry skills now equal to my passion for stonework, I felt a calling to move on.

Everything leading to this moment was a labour of love. Some say that stonemasonry is at least a 10 year apprenticeship, and i would agree with them.

I founded Touchstone Projects In 2013.

Being an owner and operator of my own business brought me an incredible sense of pride.

I started with residential stone cladding projects and began building my reputation as a hard working, skillful, trustworthy and accountable stonemasonry firm.
